Happy New Year!!

So here comes another New Year’s Day!! Just like every year. It is indeed fascinating why we keep on celebrating the arrival of New year every year though in reality it doesn’t really change things much. May be it’s about our perspective to look towards the things that changes in New year. May be it is that urge of starting the same life with a new zeal, new energy that makes New year a moment worth celebrating.

In fact I often feel New year’s celebration is a token of celebrating what we have, looking at the present optimistically. It is a celebration of the belief that yes, things can change. And we can make this change happen. This belief produces all the zeal and fervour of the New year magic. But then why restrict this zeal, this cheer merely to the First of Jan? Why not make the entire year a celebration in itself? Well, easier said than done!!

Another peculiar thing about the New year thing is that this is perhaps the only juncture where we think of looking back and reflecting. It seems like life slows down a little at this juncture, and we get a chance to roam back in the life! We dive back in time and come out with the pearls of memories- good or otherwise. And once we are done with this, we get back to the routine of creating new moments and memories. And we then try to repackage the passing year’s regrets to create the hopes for the coming year. Isn’t that a wonderful way of living???

Talking personally, I don’t really get excited about New year. Spending childhood in a middle sized town meant New year was only about the TV programmes on 31st night. In College days too 31st was just another reason of wishing people. But real craziness of this occasion that I witnessed was during my CSE preparation days, welcoming the New year outside on streets with equally crazy friends, in breezy winters. And when life took a turn, every 31st I keep wondering where I will spend the next 31st. [P.S. In both 2014 and 2015, I welcomed the New year at places I never thought of visiting. And déjà vu! It happened again in 2016…]

So let’s cheer for the New year. For the hope, for the spirit of life! May this year be full of Peace, Prosperity and Happiness. I wish new year turns out to be that unwritten chapter in your story which will make the story truly wonderful. Have a great year folks!!
